The Infernal Devices is something of a prequel trilogy for the Mortal Instruments, with subtle references to our beloved characters splattered across every page. This is yet another masterstroke by Cassandra Clare in her writing career. This series consists of 3 books: The Clockwork Angel, The Clockwork Prince and The Clockwork Princess.
I adored this book from the very beginning. I actually love any historical fantasy, and considering how rare they are, I loved this one. Also, I really enjoyed going back into my beloved Shadow World!!
Set in 19th Century London, the book follows the adventure of Tessa Gray as she dives into the depth of the Shadow World. Tessa has come to London to meet her brother Nat, but after she is kidnapped by the Dark Sisters and made to use her strange ability of turning into other people (which is abnormal, even for a Shadow hunter), she is rescued by Will Herondale, the Shadow hunter and taken to the London Institute.
What I litetally loved the most about this book was the love triangle between Tessa, Jem and Will. The fact that this was the first time that I came across a love triangle where none of the characters have any kind of jealousy or hatred towards each other is a statement in itself. All three just genuinely care about each other and love each other so much........and its just heart-warming and beautiful.
Cassandra Clare conjures up one of the most beautiful and original love triangles ever!. This heartbreaking story with a new enemy and revelation of dark secrets, will take the reader on an unforgettable ride. Trusts will be betrayed, Relationships will be questioned and love will suffer through impossible challenges. Full of witty banter and elite-level sarcasm, it will make you cry in empathy while clutching your stomach and laughing.
Will you give up your love to be together with your own parabatai even if it rips your heart apart? Are you wiling to live on poison just to be alive for the one you love? Will you survive the curse that forbids you to love and be loved?
"To live is to destroy and to be loved is to be destroyed"
" "As for the temperature of Hell, Miss Gray," he said, "let me give you a piece of advice. The handsome young fellow who's trying to rescue you from a hideous fate is never wrong. Not even if he says the sky is purple and made of hedgehogs.” ― Cassandra Clare,
I give this series a well-deserved, bright and shining 5 stars out 5!!
